The African swine fever has been registered in the Toporivtsi village of Horodenkivskyi district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. This is reported by the Main Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) of Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The State Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics and the Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise (Kyiv) examined three samples of biological material taken from pigs belonging to the farm “Na hori” (Toporivtsi village of Horodenkivskyi district of Ivano-Frankivsk region) and to a private peasant household of the citizen of the same location. Through the examination, the DNA of the African swine fever was identified (report on the results of the examination No. 007351 p.m./17 of 12.09.2017).

In order to coordinate actions to localize and eliminate the outbreak of disease, specialists of the SSUFSCP of the region and the region conducted an epizootic investigation and immediately took all necessary measures to prevent the spread of African swine fever beyond the epizootic focus.

On September 12, 2017, the meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epizootic Commission was held at the State Administration of Horodenkivskyi district, where a plan of measures for improving the focus of the disease was adopted. Farm " Na hori " had 45 pigs and private peasant household had 1 pig.

After receiving a preliminary result of a laboratory study to identify the causative agent of African swine fever, all the above-mentioned livestock was destroyed by burning. Disinfection was carried out on the territory of farms and in premises where pigs were kept.

Two veterinary and police posts are established at the entrance and exit from the Torhovytsia village and Pidvysoke village of Sniatynskyi region to the territory of the unfavorable ASF location. Also, additional roads are blocked. The disinfectant barriers are arranged, warning signs “Quarantine” are exposed and 24-hour duty on posts is provided by veterinary specialists and employees of the national police.

Two working groups have been set up consisting of representatives of the veterinary service, local government bodies, the district state administration, the Horodenkivskyi district department of the national police and the branch of the State Emergency Service for carrying out work in the unfavorable location.
