ASF in Latvia: the first case in the Riebiņu district

Inspectors of the Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia detected 15 new cases of African swine fever (ASF) among the wild boar population during last week, according to the Food and Veterinary Service of Latvia, pigua.info reports.

The disease was first registered in the Riebiņu district.

This year ASF was found among 587 wild boars in 196 districts of 73 regions and in one city.

For the first time in Latvia, in June 2014 three boars a few meters from the border with Belarus were found with the ASF.
