24 animals died for the last three days at the pig farm of the Danish company Idavang.

In Latvia an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was recorded at the farm of the largest pig company in the country - the Danish Idavang.

This is reported by Delfi with reference to the Lithuanian Food and Veterinary Service on Tuesday, August 7.

According to the department, the death of 24 pigs was recorded on the farm for the last three days. For this reason, all animals that are bred here will be slaughtered - 19.5 thousand heads.

The company Idavang had already suffered earlier because of ASF in Lithuania. In 2014 its farm in the Ignalina region had about the same number of pigs - 19 thousand.

Last week an ASF outbreak was registered in Latvia on the Druvas Unguri farm, where more than 15,000 pigs were kept. This is the largest outbreak of the disease since ASF was first registered in the country in 2014.
