Total production of turkey meat in Ukraine can now be estimated at 36-38 thousand tons in live weight, or 25.2-26.6 thousand tons in slaughter weights, the magazine "Nashe ptakhivnytstvo" reported.
The production of turkey meat in Ukraine, according to preliminary data, increased by at least 10% last year. In addition to poultry enterprises, a significant amount of turkey (3-5 thousand tons) produces a population's economy.
Further increase in production does not make sense, because it depends on the effective demand of the population, most domestic producers of turkey meat consider.
Taking into account domestic production, import and export in 2017 per capita, 0.8-0.9 kg of turkey meat, which corresponds approximately to the average level of its consumption in the world, is considerably less than the average European level.
Producers note that only on condition of entering foreign markets, turkey business in the near future will be able to develop.
In 2016 200 tons of turkey meat were exported. Export deliveries were made to Moldova, Benin, Congo, UAE, Jordan, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Georgia.
