The second stage of simulation exercises aimed at raising awareness of the African swine fever in Ukraine, which is taking place as part of a joint FAO-EBRD project, has begun.

The project will unite specialists in veterinary medicine of different levels: national, regional, district. And also veterinarians of pig farms, experts of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and veterinary and sanitary examination.

The main goal of such exercises is to develop the potential for managing outbreaks of ASF in Ukraine at different levels, with an emphasis on testing and development of operational procedures.

The first exercises were already held in Sumy on December 12. The next stage is in Chernigov.

"Establishing communication between links has become one of the main tasks of simulations, because in business cooperation and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection there is often an" imbalance "(distrust, silence, lack of communication, etc.)," says the report.
