The Ukrainian delegation participates in the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture in Berlin

The 10th Global Forum on Food and Agriculture is held in Berlin (Germany) on January 18-20 in the framework of the International Green Week, the main theme of which this year is "The future of livestock - a sustainable, responsible and effective".

The event is attended by the Ukrainian delegation, which includes the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maksym Martyniuk, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy for European Integration Olha Trofimtseva, the heads of departments of the ministry, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Germany.

The program of the Forum includes expert panel discussions, a high-level podium discussion, an international business panel, the Berlin Summit of Agriculture Ministers.

"The theme of livestock development is a global priority given the social, economic and environmental components of this sector. The Ukrainian government, responding to world and internal challenges, deliberately and carefully provides priority support to the livestock sector, laying an unprecedented UAH 4 billion for this purpose in the state budget for 2018, "comments the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maksym Martyniuk.
It bears reminding that the program of state support of livestock in 2018 is aimed at a comprehensive restoration of the industry, attracting investment, promoting the construction and reconstruction of farms and complexes, and as a result - increased production of livestock products.

Issues on which the Forum's activities were focused were:

- development of the global market taking into account trends in healthy eating and consumption;

- the importance of developing the livestock sector for the purpose of adequate food security, as a factor in the economic development of rural areas;

- sustainable production issues (feed production and supply, management of climate change issues, sustainable management of water and land resources, improving animal health and welfare).

In addition, the Ukrainian delegation held a number of bilateral meetings with the leadership of the agrarian departments of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, during which issues of deepening bilateral cooperation were discussed.

The key event of the Global Forum will be the tenth Berlin Conference of Ministers of Agriculture.
The outcome of this Conference will be the adoption of the Joint Communiqué, the final document of the Global Forum, which will include the results of discussions in various formats of podiums, working groups, high-level discussions with international organizations and institutions, in particular FAO and the European Commission.

In 2017 more than 2,000 representatives of the countries of the world took part in the Forum, including 83 ministers and 9 international organizations.
