Ukrainian agroexport was increased by $65.6 million for 8 months of 2018

In January-August 2018, the foreign trade turnover of the products of the agro-industrial complex reached $15 billion, of which the export of products of the agricultural sector is $11.5 billion or 37.3% of the total exports of Ukraine. This was reported by Olha Trofimtseva, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for European Integration, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.

“Ukrainian agroexport was increased by $65.6 million, compared to the same period of 2017, and amounts to $11.5 billion. The growth of indicators occurred mainly due to such items as rapeseed, wheat, meat and poultry by-products , eggs, nuts, butter, chocolate and other products,” says Olha Trofimtseva.

According to her, in the top three exports of Ukrainian agricultural and food products remain grain crops, which is 36.6% of total agricultural exports, oils - 25.1%, and oilseeds - 9.4%. The key buyers in the regional export structure are Asian countries - with a share of 43.6%, the European Union - 31.4% and Africa - 13.3%.

During this period, exports of agricultural products to Asian countries increased by $ 259.1 million and amounted to $ 5.04 billion compared with the corresponding period of 2017.

“It is important to note that the first place among the key countries-importers of our products is India, which supplied Ukrainian food products in the amount of $ 1.3 billion. China took the second place - $698.8 million, Egypt - the third place - $685, 5 million,” notes Olha Trofimtseva and adds that the Netherlands’s top five importers of Ukrainian products are also worth $671.9 million and Spain –  $551.3 million.
