Ukraine has a great potential for the development of cooperation in the agroindustrial complex, as today domestic agricultural cooperatives produce only 1% of all agricultural products. This was said in an interview with Аgravery.com by people's deputy of Ukraine, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations Serhii Labaziuk.

He noted that the number of members of agricultural serving cooperatives in Ukraine is less than 30 thousand people, that is less than 0.2% of the rural population of Ukraine.

"In the developed world the efficiency of small and medium-sized agricultural producers is achieved through their association with the goal of joint production, access to financial and material resources and the promotion of their products. In turn one of the most common and effective forms of such an association is agricultural cooperatives, whose share in the EU agricultural market is 40-50%, and in some countries and sectors it reaches 70%. The annual turnover of the 10 largest farm cooperatives in the EU is more than 93 billion dollars, which is almost equal to the annual GDP of Ukraine," Serhii Labaziuk said.
