Ukraine will seek the introduction of an FTA with the USA

This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, reports UNIAN.

The minister noted that the world is actively discussing the statement of USA President Donald Trump about imposing duties on import of aluminum and steel into the USA.

"This is not a surprise to us, as we understand that the United States administration has been studying this issue for quite some time. We are committed to the most constructive dialogue with the administration and conduct it in the context of Ukrainian exports, " shares his plans Pavlo Klimkin.

The Minister noted the extraordinary potential for trade relations between Ukraine and the United States.

"We are confident of the extraordinary potential for the development of our trade and economic cooperation, and one of the proposals that sounds in this sense is the introduction of a free trade zone with the United States, since we now have it with Canada. A logical question arises: why do not have it with the United States? ", says he. 

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister said that this issue will be carefully discussed within the framework of the strategic partnership commission, both at the subgroup level and at the political level.

Pavlo Klimkin noted the potential of trade relations between Ukraine and the United States primarily in the areas of services, investment and high technology. "The future of the free trade zone is for me a real step forward," stresses the minister.
