Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova are working together to eliminate ASF

In Uzhhorod, a joint meeting of representatives of the veterinary services of Ukraine, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Moldova on joint efforts to monitor the situation of ASF took place.

The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Boris Kobal, Director of the Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. Also at the event there were representatives of the main departments of the department in Lviv, Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Chernivtsi and Odesa regions.

The delegations of other countries were headed by Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Hungary Lajos Bognar, Vice President of the Competent Authority of Romania Lazlo Tssutak, Deputy Director of the Moldovan Republican Center for Veterinary Diagnostics Nicola Antoci, Head of the State Veterinary Control Service at the Vyshnie-Niemietske checkpoint of the Slovak Republic Stanislav Vakata.

The participants discussed the issues of preventing and eliminating ASF in the territories of their countries and developed proposals for strengthening measures in the border regions, especially regarding the implementation of state veterinary and sanitary control at border crossing points.

Boris Kobal noted the need for an operative exchange of information on the implementation of measures to eliminate ASF between the territorial bodies of state veterinary control directly in the border areas. He also added that this is very important in carrying out activities to depopulate wild boar, and to widely spread awareness among the population.
