Ukraine and Germany discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the agro-industrial complex for the next year

On September 18 the 15th meeting of the German-Ukrainian Agrarian Committee was held, which is held annually to assess the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation, in particular, the implementation of joint cooperative projects in the agroindustrial complex, as well as to discuss new promising areas for further cooperation in the sector, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.

The Ukrainian side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Olha Trofimtseva, and German side - by the Parliamentary Secretary of State of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany Michael Stübgen.

"I am grateful to my German colleagues for their active cooperation in bilateral trade in agricultural products. Thus, the positive dynamics of trade in agricultural products is noted, which increased by $ 223.9 million and amounted to $ 846.9 million in 2017," Deputy Minister for European Integration Olha Trofimtseva stated.

She also noted the effective cooperation between the two countries within the framework of bilateral cooperation projects that help create a stable basis for the development of foreign trade of the Ukrainian agribusiness.

Mr. Michael Stübgen noted that the Government of Germany sees in Ukraine a very powerful agrarian player with great opportunities in the global market and added that through the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany 5 projects are being implemented, for which 1/5 of the total budget is directed to implementation of bilateral international projects.

"In the long term we are considering many more directions for fruitful cooperation, in particular, cooperation in the forestry sector, veterinary medicine and training of highly qualified specialists for working with the newest agrotechnologies," Olha Trofimtseva summed up .
