Trade turnover in the agro-industrial complex between Ukraine and the EU increased by 4.4% over 7 months of 2018

According to the results of January-July of 2018, the foreign trade turnover of agrarian goods between Ukraine and the EU countries increased by 4 4% and amounted to almost $ 4.6 billion. At the same time, Ukrainian exports amount to almost $ 3.1 billion, that is, Ukraine has a positive trade balance. This was told by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Olha Trofimtseva, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.

"Despite the fact that Ukrainian agrarian exports to the EU countries over the seven months of this year decreased by 3.7% compared to the same period in 2017, it amounted to almost $ 3.1 billion. At the same time, the EU remains the second most important market in the regional structure of our exports of agricultural products with a share of 35.3%, second only to Asia," Deputy Minister Olha Trofimtseva noted.

According to her, the top 10 most active European buyers of domestic agricultural and food products in 2018 are headed by the Netherlands, with a share of 15.5%. It is followed by Poland - 14.5%, Italy - 13.8%, Spain - 12.9%, Germany - 10.6%, France - 6.5%, Belgium - 3.3%, Great Britain - 3%, Hungary - 2.8%, Portugal - 2.7%, Romania - 1.8%.

"During this period the demand of European consumers for a whole range of Ukrainian agrarian and food products has increased very noteably. For example, poultry meat and by-products were exported to the EU markets almost 2.2 times more than in the same period of the previous year, by $ 152.1 million," Olha Trofimtseva noted.

She added that the volume of exports of the following goods also increased: rape seeds - by $ 73.4 million or 96.7%; wheat - by $ 52.8 million (by 52%); soybeans - by $ 17.2 million (by 11.6%); other nuts - by $ 17.1 million (by 80.8%); skins of other animals - $ 13.6 million (by 56%); dried bean beans - by $ 10.8 million (3 times) sugar confectionery products - by $ 10.8 million (by 78.9%); fruits and nuts raw or cooked, frozen - by $ 9.9 million (by 38.9%); juices - by almost $ 9.2 million (by 51.3%); chocolate and other products with cocoa content - by $ 9.1 million (69.6%).

"As for the import of goods from the EU to Ukraine, it increased by almost 30% to just over $ 1.5 billion. The key commodities of our import were animal feed products, chocolate and cocoa bean products, tobacco and tobacco products, seeds of oilseeds, meat and by-products and other food products,"- Deputy Minister Olha Trofimtseva summed up.
