There are fewer pigs and cows in Ukraine

The number of poultry increased by 1.4% - up to 197.5 million heads, reports UNIAN.

The number of cattle in Ukraine as of March 1, 2018 was 3.69 million, which is 5.2% less than the same date in 2017, according to the State Statistics Service.

In particular, the number of cows was 2.01 million head, which is 4.5% less than on March 1 last year. In addition, the number of pigs at the reporting date decreased by 7.7% - to 6.07 million heads, the number of sheep and goats decreased by 4.1% and amounted to 1.38 million head. The number of birds increased by 1.4% - to 197.5 million heads.

The State Statistics Service noted that the above data does not take into account information from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and part of the zone of the anti-terrorist operation in the east of Ukraine.

As reported, the number of cattle in Ukraine as of January 1, 2017 amounted to 3.63 million heads, which is 1.5% less than on the same date in 2017. In particular, the number of cows was 2.06 million heads, which is 2.1% less than on January 1 last year. The number of pigs decreased by 8.2% to 6.12 million heads, the number of sheep and goats increased by 1% to 1.32 million heads, while the number of poultry increased by 1.7% to 205.1 million heads.
