Now the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection together with its European counterparts is drafting a bill on veterinary medicine.

This was reported by the Director of the Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Boris Kobal, the press service of the ministry reports.

During the seminar on the improvement of state control in the field of food safety and veterinary medicine, representatives of the central apparatus and the main directorates of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection discussed the legal and organizational basis for state control carried out to check the compliance of food market operators and animal welfare with market operators.

Participants of the seminar analyzed the regulatory and legal provision of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the fields of food safety and veterinary medicine, European experience in this field and the like.

Mr. Kobal noted that in 2017 it was necessary to work on the implementation and implementation in 2018 and 2019 of the norms of 33 directives and regulations of the EU.
He noted that over the past six months, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection experts took an active part in the development of five bills: "On food safety and hygiene" (bill No. 2845), the draft law of Ukraine on requirements for items and materials in contact with food (register No. 4611), "On information for consumers regarding food products" (registration No. 4126-1), "On Amending Certain Laws on Tracking the Marking of GMOs and Tracking the Labeling of Food, Feed and Feed Additives Produced from GMOs (now under consideration by the government), “On Amending the Law of Ukraine” “On the identification and registration of animals”.
