The widespread information in the media that the population of the Rivne region consumes milk, the level of radioactive contamination of which exceeds the permissible standards, has not been confirmed, the Government portal reported.

It should be noted that spectrometric studies of raw milk are conducted on an ongoing basis throughout Ukraine, including milk from private farms and the population.

In order to check the information published in the media, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection conducted an analysis of the data obtained from the results of spectrometric studies of milk in Ukraine for the period from January 1 to June 15, 2018.

According to the information provided by the territorial agencies of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, during the reporting period, only 102,323 spectrometric studies were conducted in Ukraine, including 101,178 samples of raw milk and 1,145 by milk processing enterprises (production control) under state control.

At the same time, the total content of strontium-90 was analyzed - 19726 samples and cesium-137 - 84 469 samples.

According to the results of laboratory tests, 13 positive cases of excess of cesium-137 content were detected only in Zhytomyr region (Narodychi urban-type settlement). Milk was destroyed.

Now in the Rivne region, only 626 spectrometric laboratory studies of milk samples were carried out, there were no exceedances of the content of strontium-90 and cesium-137.

In addition, as of today the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has not received official reports about an increased level of radioactive contamination of milk from Ukraine, either from importers or from the competent authorities of destination countries.

At the same time, we note that in case of receiving official reports on the increased level of radioactive contamination of milk, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection will take measures in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
