The Romanian pork producer, Carniprod Tulcea, will have to destroy the entire pig population if the outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) on the farm repeats, pigua.info reported.

This week death of pigs was recorded on one of the farms of the company Tulcea, and laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of the virus.

At the first stage 600 pigs will be killed by the bloodless method in the farm, but if new outbreaks of ASF occur in the next two weeks, they will destroy the entire number of the company's 45,000 animals, according to the magazine Industria Carnii.

In early June the Veterinary Service of Romania reported the first cases of ASF in Tulcea County among wild boars.

Last year the turnover of Carniprod Tulcea was estimated at 19 million euros.
