President Petro Poroshenko signed the Law of Ukraine "On Amending Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Solving the Problem of Collective Land Ownership, Improving Land Use Rules in Agricultural Landmass, Preventing Illegal Takeover and Irrigation Promotion in Ukraine," the Presidential Administration reported.

The implementation of the Law will create an effective mechanism for using agricultural landmass, create the necessary conditions for preventing illegal takeover and stimulating irrigation of land in Ukraine.

The law specifies the features of the use and disposal of land plots located in the agricultural landmass, as well as field shelterbelts, which limit such landmass. In particular, the right of owners, land users of agricultural land plots intended for personal farming, a farm located in agricultural landmass, is provided for use also for conducting commercial agricultural production without changing the purpose of such land plots. It also establishes the right of owners of land plots of all forms of ownership located in agricultural landmass to share such land plots.

In addition, the specifics of disposing of lands and the use of lands left in collective ownership after the distribution of land plots between owners of land shares have also been determined. The law, in particular, is recognized as the property of the territorial communities on the territory of which they are located, the lands of collective agricultural enterprises that do not work (except for land that is privately owned).

The law comes into force on the day following the day of its publication.
