In Poland, certificates of animal health are one of the main ways to combat ASF. Without them, it is impossible to sell meat abroad. However, farmers demand their cancelation, pigua.info reported.
The idea of canceling mandatory certificates was voiced at a meeting of the Seim Commission on Agriculture, by one of the pig producers in the Mazowieckie Voivodship. In his opinion, control over the turnover of animals can be carried out through online applications. It would be wiser to declare the movement of pigs through the Internet and receive permission to sell also online. According to farmers, when doctors come to farms, this creates an additional risk of spreading ASF.
It is quite expected that the proposals of farmers have not met with the approval of veterinarians. After all, often the source of the spread of the disease is illegal trade of pig products, live pigs and piglets. In addition, certificates are important from the point of view of the meat industry and the export of pork from Poland. Without them, it is impossible to ship goods abroad.
