"Reduction in the number of pigs is observed in all regions of Ukraine, with the exception of Volyn, Donetsk, Kiev and Rivne regions. Producers increased there the pig population by 53 thousand animal units”, says the report.

Analysts note that the number of pigs decreased on Zaporizhzhia industrial farms (-54.2 thousand animal units compared to the number of livestock on September 1, 2016), Poltava (63 thousand pigs) and Kharkiv region (115 thousand pigs).

It is reported that a large-scale reduction in the industrial livestock in the Kharkiv region is due to the planned renovation of the livestock of one of the region's key operators, and is of a temporary nature. A similar strategy for reducing the number of livestock in order to modernize production facilities and update the number of livestock has been selected by a number of medium-sized pork producers.
