Unlike the current weather conditions, the mood of the pig markets in the EU is pretty cool. On the part of meat processing companies, the demand for pigs is very low-key, while the supply volume is quite high, pigua.info reported.

Market participants report weak trade over almost all Europe. In the Netherlands and Denmark countries heavily reliant on exports, this has already caused a 3 cents decline in prices last week. Although this week prices in Denmark have not changed, the Dutch quotations decreased by another 2 cents.

Germany also reported pressure on prices, where it was recorded a decline in prices of 3 cents.  It was stated that this was due to the fact that meat sales are currently weaker due to the holiday season. This decline in prices observed in Germany is especially noteworthy in that the slaughter of pigs declined to less than 900 000 heads, which is significantly lower than last year.

Until now, Southern Europe has not suffered from a weakening of prices. Increased demand is created by vacationers in Italy and in Spain.
