The number of cows and pigs decreased in Ukraine

The population of cows and pigs decreased in Ukraine.

This was reported by the State Statistics Service.
The number of cattle in Ukraine as of December 1, 2017 amounted to 3.9 million animal units, which is 0.9% less than on the same date in 2016.

The number of pigs in Ukraine will be reduced to a historic minimum, for example, the number of cows is 2.09 million head, which is 1.8% less than on December 1 last year. In addition, the number of pigs at the reporting date decreased by 8.4% - to 6.54 million animal units, the number of sheep and goats increased by 0.2% and amounted to 1.46 million units. The number of birds increased by 0.3% to 213.88 million.

The State Statistics Service noted that the given data does not take into account information from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and part of the zone of the antiterrorist operation in the east of Ukraine.

The number of cattle in Ukraine as of January 1, 2017 amounted to 3.68 million units, which is 2% less than on the same date in 2016. In particular, the number of cows was 2.1 million, which is 2.7% less than on January 1 of the previous year. The number of pigs decreased by 5.5% to 6.7 million units, sheep and goats by 1%, to 1.3 million units, and poultry by 0.8% to 202.4 million.
