At the end of the year, the purchase prices for livestock were somewhat stabilized. So, if at the beginning of the second decade of December the average purchase price for pigs of the 1st category has strengthened at 45.4 UAH / kg, then planned sales during the penultimate week of 2017 occur at similar prices.
In particular, meat pigs are sold at 44-46 UAH / kg, and the price of "two" ranges from 42-43 UAH / kg. Trade outside these price ranges was sporadic, and the increase in sales prices was within UAH 1 / kg and was point-like this week.
Although the representatives of the meat-processing industry have noted for several years in a row that there is no rush demand for pork on the eve of the holidays, this week they felt a slight revival of trade. So, operators note a 10-20% increase in sales volumes compared to the previous week.
On the other hand, meat processors note that the results could be better, but unpredictable heavy snowfalls prevented. Nevertheless, there are expectations that next week the demand will be somewhat weaker, in particular from the meat processors.
The latter this week complete preparations for the holidays, and most of them have sufficient reserves. However, the change in purchasing prices next week will depend not only on the activity of the procurers, but also on the supply of live bait from the side of small "seasonal" operators and the condition of their animals.
