Japanese market will be opened for the Ukrainian food products

During the visit Volodymyr Lapa negotiated with the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, in particular, with the Director of the Department of Animal Health, Food Safety and Consumer Affairs, Norio Kumagaya. The meeting was held with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan and the support of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Japan Ihor Kharchenko.

Volodymyr Lapa thanked his Japanese colleagues for the positive dynamics of the development of relations in the sphere of animal health and food safety. In particular, he recalled that in 2017 the form of a veterinary certificate for the export of dairy products from Ukraine to Japan was agreed.

In addition, during the meeting the issue of completing the accreditation of the export of poultry meat from Ukraine was discussed. Volodymyr Lapa noted that in the third quarter of this year the Ukrainian side expects the inspection of the competent authority of Japan in our country with the purpose of assessing the system of state control over the production of poultry meat and products from it.

At the same time during the meetings the parties discussed the establishment of conditions and procedures for access to the Japanese market for egg products, as well as other products that may be of mutual interest. As part of the discussion on this issue, the Japanese side said that to export thermally processed egg products, the competent authorities should agree on the appropriate form of the veterinary certificate and, if necessary, carry out an inspection of Ukrainian enterprises interested in exporting egg products in Japan.

The parties noted that this meeting is a continuation of fruitful cooperation between the competent authorities of Ukraine and Japan and agreed on the further development of bilateral trade and professional relations.
