The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered the draft law "On Amending Certain Laws of Ukraine on the prohibition of the use of palm oil in food production" No. 2351-VIII prohibiting the use of palm oil in food products and fixing a fine of 20 to 200 non-taxable minimums. The use of palm oil provokes the development of thrombosis, cardiovascular diseases, infertility and even oncology, the authors of the bill believe.
"The purpose of the bill is a direct ban on the use of palm oil in the production of food, milk and dairy products, and the establishment of administrative responsibility for the offense," – is said in an explanatory note.
The bill on banning the use of palm oil in foodstuffs registered in the Verkhovna Rada will tighten sanctions for violators.
In particular, there will be a punishment for those who will use palm oil in food after the ban. If such violations are fixed once a year, then the fine will be from 20 to 100 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens, if the second time in a year - from 100 to 200 non-taxable minimums.
