The implementation of the Concept for the Development of Farms and Agricultural Cooperatives for 2018-2020 is a tool for ensuring sustainable economic growth of rural communities through the development of agrarian entrepreneurship. After all, most people living in rural areas are engaged in agriculture, of which more than 90% are small producers, farmers and households, agronews.ua reports.

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Viktor Sheremeta during the seminar "Actual problems of rural development, ways to solve them" on March 26 in Severodonetsk. "The policy of rural development is aimed at improving the quality of life and economic well-being of the rural population, in particular, due to increased employment in rural areas. To fulfill these tasks, the Concept was developed, providing the main directions of financial support as: livestock, horticulture, cheaper loans and support for cooperation, " says Viktor Sheremeta.

The expected results of the implementation of the Concept include: an increase in the share of farms in the production of gross agricultural output to 12%, an increase in the number of cooperatives by 40-50 units (in Ukraine 1125 cooperatives are registered, 610 of which operate), an increase in the area of agricultural lands for cultivation and production of organic products by 10%, an increase in the number of cattle in farms by 2.5%, an increase in the area of perennial plantations in farms by 15%, and so on.

In addition, the system of rural development policy instruments contains not only measures to support a small producer, promote the development of cooperation, support the development of farming and young farmers, transform the private farms into organized forms of management. It is also aimed at the formation of information support, the development of a consultancy system in Ukraine, the involvement of small producers in the experience of other countries to meet the needs of school meals, primarily fruits, vegetables, milk, the spread of organic production and so on.
