Government has improved the financial support mechanism for farmers and cooperatives

On September 19, at a meeting of the Government, a decision was taken to amend the procedure for using the funds provided for in the state budget to provide financial support for the development of farms, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.

"The government is flexible enough and mobile and responds promptly to industry requests. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in close cooperation with the Association of Farmers and Private Landowners, and public organizations have developed changes that significantly reduce the list of documents and requirements for potential recipients of financial support, and also expand preferences for farmers and cooperatives," the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Maksym Martyniuk commented.

He thinks that due to the changes, access to financial resources for farms and cooperatives is greatly simplified, which will contribute to the growth of their quantity and the development of agricultural activities.

In particular, the amendments:

- provide partial compensation to the members of the farm in accordance with the single social contribution paid;

- provide financial support for new farm in the period of their formation per 1 ha;

- expand the list of banks through which you can apply for financial support;

- expand the areas of activity of cooperatives, in particular, to dairy and berry add vegetable cooperatives and to harvest and process berries, mushrooms and plants.

According to the State Statistics Service, as of November 1, 2017, the number of operating farms was 34,137 units, the area of agricultural land in their use was 4,580,100 ha or 22.9% of total land use by agricultural enterprises. On average, there are 134.2 hectares of agricultural land per farm.
