In 2019 the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection will conduct an inspection of perishable food products every three months. This is was said in a blog by the head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Volodymyr Lapa, on AgroRolit.com.

He noted that the new law gives such an opportunity.

"We are now working on the relevant documents at the level of by-laws and we plan to publish a control plan for the next year until December 1, where there will be a higher frequency of inspections," Volodymyr Lapa said.

Volodymyr Lapa said that inspecting food products every 2 years is not a very good idea.

"European practice shows that if there is a high risk (fish, animal and meat products), products are checked every 3 months, if there is less risk, they are checked every six months and so on. We hope that we will have the same situation starting from next year," he noted.
