The EU's import tariff quotas will increase over the next 5 years

The import tariff quotas of the European Union will be planned to increase for 18 Ukrainian commodity groups within five years, an average of 10% per year, according to the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

The positions will increase for five years, on average by 10% per year, for example, in 2016 the quota for Ukrainian poultry meat amounted to 16 thousand tons, and in 2017 it increased to 16.8 thousand tons, in 2018 the size of the tariff quota will be already at the level of 17.6 thousand tons, the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food for European Integration Olha Trofimtseva cited in the message.

Volumes of trade preferences will also increase for mutton within five years from 1.65 thousand tons to 2.25 thousand tons, wheat from 960,000 tons to 1 million tons, barley from 270,000 tons to 350 thousand tons, barley and flour from 6,600 tons to 7,800 tons, milk, cream, yoghurts from 8,400 tons to 10,000 tons, honey from 5,200 tons, tons - up to 6 thousand tons, eggs from 1.8 thousand tons - up to 3 thousand tons, processed starch from 1.2 thousand tons - up to 2 thousand tons, etc.

The gradual increase in tariff quotas over five years is enshrined in the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, as of October 4, 2017, the EU's import tariff quotas for Ukrainian goods have been exhausted: honey, sugar, barley and flour, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juice, oats, barley, corn, wheat. In a number of products where quotas do not exhaust: lamb, beef, mushrooms, processed milk products, etc.

As reported, on September 13, the European Parliament signed a decision on granting Ukraine additional trade preferences for three years. According to the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Ukraine's trade representative Nataliia Mykolska, Ukrainian agribusiness producers will be able to take advantage of additional quotas for duty-free supplies of certain agricultural products to the EU from October 1, 2017, from cereals from January 1, 2018.

The signed regulations stipulate that the initial duty-free quota for the supply of honey to the EU is increased from 5 thousand. Additionally for 2.5 thousand tons per year, cereals and processed grain - from 6.3 thousand. Additionally for 7.8 thousand tons, for grape and apple juices - from 10 thousand in addition to 500 tons, for oats - from 4 thousand in addition to 4 thousand tons, processed tomatoes - from 10 thousand to 3 thousand tons. Quotas for the supply of corn will be increased from 400 thousand tons for another 625 thousand tons, wheat and wheat flour - from 950 thousand tons for another 65 thousand tons, barley - from 250 thousand tons for another 325 thousand tons.

Ukraine can supply 36 products to the European Union without tariffs within the limits of the approved volumes of tariff quotas. Quotas for the supply of beef are 12 thousand tons, milk, cream, yoghurt - 8 thousand tons, milk powder - 1,5 thousand tons, butter - 1,5 thousand tons, egg products - 1,5 thousand tons. tons, eggs - 1,5 thousand tons, pork - 40 thousand tons.
