By the end of 2017 the production of cattle meat will become profitable

The profitability of production of livestock products in 2017 is projected at the level of 14.6%, which is almost double the indicators of 2016 by 7.7%.

This was announced by the director of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics", academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yurii Lupenko, the press service of the ESC informs.

According to him, this year the production of cattle, pork, poultry and milk will be profitable.
It is expected that for the first time during the independence of Ukraine the production of meat of cattle will become profitable. According to the preliminary forecast of the scientists of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, due to a sharp rise in prices in the domestic market, its profitability in 2017 may reach 6.7% against last year's figure of -24.8%.

The trend will continue to increase the profitability of poultry meat production (without industrial processing). Its profitability will increase to 17.3% - almost 3.5 times, against 5% last year.
Profitability of pig meat, whose production last year was unprofitable (-4.5%), 2017 will be 13.4%, exceeding the indicator of 2015 at 12.7%.

The profitability of milk production will increase to 20.6% against 18.2% last year.

"As a result of the projected growth in the cost of eggs by 20% with an insignificant decrease (-2.1%) in the price of their sale, the production of this kind of livestock products in 2017 will become unprofitable. Its profitability is projected at -13.2%. This is the first case since 2006 of unprofitable production of eggs. Then its profitability was -6.8%, " notes Yurii Lupenko.

In this case, the production of meat of sheep and goats will become less unprofitable. Its profitability will be -23.8% against -35.2% in 2016.
"Profitability of wool production will decrease from -31.8% last year to -44.5% in 2017," says Yurii Lupenko.
