Foreign investment in Ukraine over the first half of 2018 amounted to about $ 1.26 billion, of which formally the first place is occupied by investments from Russia - $ 436 million. Most of this money is accounting operations of branches of Russian banks, and not real investments. This is written by texty.org.ua.

It is reported that, according to expert estimates, investments from Russia are $ 436 million. However, if we look at the statements of banks, then for this period Sberbank increased capital from Russia ₴ 8.3 billion, VTB - ₴2.2 billion. $ 403 million or 92% of the amount given above.

However, increasing of capital is accounting operations, not real investments. Banks are under the influence of sanctions, so they can not repay the debt to their parent banks in Russia. Therefore, we have to convert it into capital and hope for a buyer or a bank license.

The publication writes that real investments from Russia were in the amount of less than $ 30 million. Therefore, in the first two places on investment there are other countries, namely:

1. Cyprus - $ 219 billion

2. Netherlands - $ 207 billion
