An unusual way to breed cows gave opportunities to the Volyn community. The animals are not tied up and placed in the most natural conditions, according to the Volyn Center for Local Self-Government Development, created with the support of the "U-LEAD with Europe" program and the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine, according to the Volyn News.

Opportunities for economic development appeared in Povorsk joint territorial community of the Kovel region with the advent of the investor. So, at one of the Volyn enterprises, meat breeds of cows are grown, and cattle are grazed by a so-called loose method, when animals are grazed all year round in the field, spending the night in field sheepfolds.

A loose method is the most common way of keeping livestock in the US and Europe. In the US 85% of cattle are kept so. Experts believe that the loose cattle maintenance reduces labor costs, increases the productivity potential of animals due to the fact that they are placed in the most natural conditions. Today in European countries loose cattle maintenance is a prerequisite to obtain a certificate of organic products.

The company already employs 15 people from Povorsk joint territorial community, and they are formalized, that means that taxes go to the community. The shepherd, for example, earns 4500 UAH and premiums for the increase in the weight of cattle, etc.

Animals graze in territories with so-called self-seeding, cattle willingly eat grass and small branches of bushes.

In addition, the company took care not only of the employment of community residents. It allocates funds for local social projects - cleaning the cemetery, supporting the local football team.

In Volyn, several breeds are bred by a loose method, for example, Volyn meat cow.

Advisors of the Volyn Center for Local Self-Government Development during a visit to the Povorsk joint territorial community visited the grazing site of one of the herds, personally saw an unobtrusive way to keep animals, pens and feeders and talked with the shepherd.
