In Ukraine the prices for meat products and chicken meat have stabilized. This was told in an exclusive interview with AgroPolit.com by the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (the AMCU), Yuriy Terentiev.

According to Yuriy Terentiev after September the price increase slowed down. "In winter, we can talk about relative stability against the fall. On some positions, prices even decreased compared to the 3-4 quarter of 2017. If we measure by European standards, then the growth in the consumer price index for foodstuffs amounted to 12.9% in 2017," the head of the AMCU explained

Yuriy Terentiev said that today the committee sees no reason for concern in the meat products market.

"Today, prices do not cause excessive concern." The situation was quite grave in the summer and in September 2017, when the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine began actively sharpening the attention of other government departments, since the dynamics of prices for basic consumer goods, in particular for meat, took on an alarming form: the rise in price of meat products, especially chicken, so we began to study this market more carefully. Now the prices for meat products and chicken meat have stabilized. Today we focus on the market of eggs"- he said.

The Chairman of the AMCU noted that progress is being observed in the poultry market.

"For example, we have been studying the chicken market since 2016. Having seen the significant role of MHP in the chicken market, we more deeply analyzed the company's behavior and its relations with other market participants. The research covered 2015-2016, but now we have expanded its time limits, because the situation of the last year quite significantly changed the structure and behavior of market participants. There is a similar situation with the study of the market of chicken eggs,"- he summed up.
