ASF was detected on the border with Poland

According to the information of the main department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) in the Lviv region on September 26, the first outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) disease was detected in a private farm in the village of Hrozovo Starosambirskyi district, located on the border with the Republic of Poland.

This was reported by the press service of Lviv Regional State Administration.
 
According to the results of a diagnostic study of the pathological material from a sow that died, the specialists established the pathogen of ASF.
 
Samples of biomaterial were also selected for research in the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise in Kiev for the final confirmation of the diagnosis.
 
On September 27, the meeting of the State Extraordinary Epizootic Commission of the Lviv Regional State Administration and the Regional Commission for Technogenic and Ecological Safety and Emergencies concerning the measures of localization and liquidation of the center of ASF took place in the village of Hrozovo Starosambirskyi district.
 
The Commission decided to establish a 3 km protection zone around the epizootic focus - the area surrounding the unfavorable point of Hrozovo Starosambirskyi area and the south-eastern side of the Dnistryk village of Starosamborskiy district and 10 km of the surveillance zone from the outer border of the protection zone, which includes the territory of the villages such as Ploske, Mshanets, Dnistryk, Vykiv, Babyna and Holovetsko villages of Starosambirskyi district.
 
Specialists of the SSUFSCP, together with the National Police, will monitor the roads around the clock, and on the territory of the forestry in Starosamborskiy district they will conduct search operations to identify carriers of infection among wild boars and their depopulation.
 
Following the meeting, the commission approved a plan of measures to prevent the spread and eliminate the incidence of ASF and decided to allocate funds from the reserve fund to compensate for the destroyed pigs in the area of the ASF focus.
