Today, on October 4, in the office of the Trade Adviser at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine, a working meeting was held with the participation of the Chairman of the Ukrainian Stock Breeders Association Iryna Palamar, First Deputy of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Proteciton Andrii Zhuk and personally the Trade Advisor of the Turkish Republic Haydar Kochak.

The subject of the meeting was the establishment of export of cattle live weight and beef meat to Turkey.
Today among Ukrainian cattle producers there is a great interest in exporting products to Turkey, a powerful consumer of beef. Our enterprises have all the technical and economic opportunities for exporting significant volumes of products.

This held at a high level meeting was preceded by an official appeal to the Ukrainian Stock Breeders Association from the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey with an expression of interest in importing Ukrainian cattle products and requesting assistance in establishing cooperation. In connection with this the Ukrainian Stock Breeders Association did a great deal of preliminary work in discussing various aspects of cooperation.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the only obstacle to the export of cattle to Turkey today is the lack of an agreed veterinary certificate regarding animal quarantine.
But on the part of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Proteciton Service Andrii Zhuk, it was argued in detail that Ukraine was free from the point of view of an epizootic situation in the direction of cattle, and we are ready to confirm the status of a safe zone.

Result of the meeting:

During the conversation with the Turkish sales representative it was agreed that in the near future the USBA will provide detailed information about our exporters of beef, their capacity and capabilities, as well as data on the absence of obstacles to the harmonization of the veterinary certificate in connection with the prosperous status of Ukraine from the health point of cattle. This information will form the basis of the report of Haydar Kochak on the possibility of exporting Ukrainian cattle products to the highest authorities of Turkey, which will be handed over to them as soon as possible.

"Now we will wait for the arrival of the official delegation of Turkey for the coordination of veterinary certificates and signing of the relevant agreements," Iryna Palamar, the chairman of the USBA, commented on the meeting. "I am sure that in the near future Ukrainian beef producers will have a powerful and serious importer, which will be a significant impetus for the development of cattle breeding in Ukraine."
